A Half-Day Boat Trip from Split to Amaya Beach Club, Brač

 

One thing everyone tells you when you live in Split is how beautiful the city is. And it is. But every once in a while, it is worth changing perspective and seeing it from the sea. I recently joined Blue Travel Split for a boat trip from Split to Amaya Beach Club on the island of Brač, and discovered a place I had never visited before, despite living just across the water.

Leaving Split with Blue Travel

Blue Travel Split organizes boat tours and day trips from Split to different destinations around the Dalmatian coast and islands, from the Blue Lagoon and Brač to some of Croatia's best-known island destinations. Our trip started in Split, and honestly, the journey is already part of the experience. There is something completely different about seeing Split disappear behind you while you cross the Adriatic. The boat is fast enough that you don't spend half your day travelling, but the ride itself is still part of the fun: music, drinks, sea, islands and some very good views along the way. And this might be one of my favourite things about taking boat trips from Split: they introduce you to places you might otherwise never think of visiting. Amaya was one of those places for me.

Amaya Beach Club in Brač

Amaya Beach Club is located in Likva Bay, near Sutivan on the island of Brač. The setting is exactly what you want from a summer afternoon in Dalmatia: incredibly clear water, sunbeds, food, drinks, music and plenty of space to spend a few hours doing very little. We had around three hours there, which I found to be a really good amount of time. Enough to swim, have lunch, get a drink, relax and actually enjoy the place without turning the excursion into an entire-day commitment. Lunch was included in our experience, and it was genuinely very good. Sitting by the water having lunch after swimming in Brač is also not a particularly difficult way to spend an afternoon.

A different way to experience Split

I've lived in Split for years, and experiences like this still remind me how much there is to discover around the city. You don't necessarily need to plan a full weekend away or organize a complicated island-hopping itinerary. Sometimes you can get on a boat in Split, cross to Brač, discover somewhere completely new, swim in ridiculously blue water, have lunch by the sea and be back in the city a few hours later. That's what I particularly liked about this trip. It's easy. You can make it part of a day rather than the entire day. We went to Amaya, had our little island escape and came back to Split with plenty of time left to continue with whatever else we wanted to do. And the ride back gives you another chance to see the Dalmatian coast from probably its best angle: the water.

Is the Blue Travel Split trip to Amaya Beach Club worth it?

For me, yes — particularly if you're visiting Split and want to experience one of the nearby islands without dedicating an entire day to an excursion. It's also a good option if, like me, you're already familiar with Split but want an excuse to discover somewhere new. You get the boat experience, views of the coast, time on Brač, swimming, a beach club and lunch, while still keeping the experience manageable enough to fit into the rest of your day. And even if you've seen Split hundreds of times from the Riva, Marjan or the old town, seeing the city and the surrounding islands from the Adriatic is something else entirely.
