This Thursday at 18:00 hrs, I’m thrilled to present my paper, "Personal Branding and Symbolic Capital: Professional Positioning Strategies in the Croatian Market" (Osobno brendiranje i simbolički kapital. Strategije profesionalnog pozicioniranja na hrvatskom tržištu). My talk is part of the panel "New Topics to Address the Research of Migration Processes" (Nove teme za istraživanje migracijskih procesa) at the III International Meeting on Migration Processes between Croatia and South America.
What’s the Event About?
The III International Meeting on Migration Processes brings together experts, researchers, and professionals from around the world to explore migration’s impact on identity, society, and professional life. The event is dedicated to building transnational networks and fostering Participatory Action Research — a collaborative approach that connects research with community action. It’s a chance to dive into complex migration issues that shape people’s lives across borders.

My Presentation: Personal Branding and Symbolic Capital
My presentation, "Personal Branding and Symbolic Capital: Professional Positioning Strategies in the Croatian Market," will explore how personal branding and symbolic capital — that is, the value assigned to reputation, recognition, and status — play a crucial role in professional positioning, especially in foreign markets like Croatia. Here’s a sneak peek into what I’ll be discussing:
- Personal Branding as a fundamental tool: Moving to a new country comes with challenges and opportunities. For professionals, establishing a strong personal brand in a new cultural and professional landscape requires careful strategy.
- Symbolic Capital as an Asset: Reputation and network connections can be as valuable as financial capital, especially in smaller markets where reputation and trustworthiness are key to success.
- Strategies for Positioning: I’ll dive into specific strategies that help professionals stand out in a competitive market, even as newcomers. This includes leveraging skills, cultural understanding, and networking to build a recognizable brand.
I’m especially excited to present in classroom 301 at the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco, where I studied Social Communication. Coming back as a speaker is a full-circle moment for me, and I can’t wait to share this experience.
